2026-27 After School Information
Program Overview
Vacaville Unified School District (VUSD) will offer expanded after-school learning opportunities through the After School Education & Safety (ASES) and Expanded Learning Opportunities Program (ELO-P). These programs serve students in Transitional Kindergarten (TK) through 6th grade and are designed to extend learning beyond the school day through academic support, enrichment activities, and social-emotional development. Registration information is found below. Families should continue to check the VUSD website for updates and announcements.
Who Is Eligible?
All VUSD students are eligible.
However, in accordance with state requirements, enrollment is prioritized for students who meet the criteria for the Unduplicated Pupil Percentage (UPP) in grades TK–6 who meet one or more of the following criteria:
- Experiencing Homelessness
- Foster youth
- English learners
- *Low-income (eligible for free or reduced-price meals)
*UPP eligibility for low-income status isn’t automatic from year to year. Even if your child qualified last school year (2025–2026), you’ll need to fill out a new application each year to confirm they still meet the requirements for low-income status. UPP students are offered first priority.
Program Cost
Is the ELO-P/ASES program free? Who qualifies?
The ELO-P/ASES program is free for students who meet priority eligibility criteria. This includes students who are identified as “unduplicated,” meaning they qualify for free or reduced-price meals, are English Learners, experiencing homelessness, or are in foster care. Students who meet any of these criteria can participate in the program at no cost. If your family qualifies for a scholarship, it will be applied AUTOMATICALLY at checkout.
After all priority placements are filled, the district may offer additional enrollment opportunities.
How much does it cost if I do not qualify as unduplicated?
Families who do not qualify as “unduplicated” will be charged $150 per month, per child.
Are there other discounts that can be applied?
Yes, your family qualifies for a reduced rate of $75/month if:
Your household size is 1, and your annual income is between $27,863 and $37,815
Your household size is 2, and your annual income is between $37,816 and $47,768
Your household size is 3+, and your annual income is between $47,769 and $57,721
To apply the reduced rate, please enter RR75 at checkout.
Attendance & Participation Expectations
Due to high demand, students enrolled in ASES/ELO-P are expected to attend consistently and fully participate in program activities. ASES/ELO-P is an enrichment and learning program—not a daycare or drop-in service. Programs are aligned with the California Education Code and emphasize high-quality expanded learning experiences.
Attendance Requirements
- Program hours begin after school until 6 PM
If your child is enrolled in a late morning TK/K schedule (PM TK/K), before-school care will be available from the beginning of the regular school day until the start of their late morning program, pending space availability.
- Students must attend a minimum of 15 hours per week.
- Regular, ongoing attendance is required.
- Intermittent or short-term participation does not meet program expectations
- Continued enrollment depends on meeting attendance expectations; this applies to all students, regardless of eligibility status or monthly payment.
- Students who do not meet these expectations may have their spot offered to families on the waitlist.
Parallel Program Participation:
If your child participates in another structured activity at the same time as ASES/ELO-P (such as sports, dance, or another organized program), they may be released early to attend that activity. While those hours do not count toward the 15-hour weekly requirement for ELO-P, your child will not lose their spot in the program due to participation in a parallel activity.
Attendance Policies
- Students absent from the school day may not attend the after-school program on that day.
- Absences due to school-sponsored activities are considered excused.
- Students with frequent absences, insufficient weekly attendance, or repeated late pick-ups may be removed from the program to allow placement for other students.
Program Components
- Each program day includes:
- A nutritious snack
- Homework support
- Structured physical activity
- Academic and enrichment activities
