Cooper Elementary School proudly honors Jennifer Moehrke as its Teacher of the Year.
As an intervention teacher, she has reimagined how we support literacy across our entire campus and has become an indispensable leader and mentor at our school. Her dedication to every student's academic and social-emotional growth, leadership, and collaborative spirit have transformed our school community.
Mrs. Moehrke’s work focuses on delivering data-driven, science of reading-based instruction that achieves outstanding results. She has transformed our approach to literacy support by guiding her team of paraeducators in implementing strategic interventions customized to each student’s needs. Teachers frequently depend on her expertise to adapt their lessons, confident she will always provide valuable insights and practical recommendations to enhance their students' learning.
In addition to her work with students, she is a strong mentor to new teachers, offering guidance on everything from classroom management to instructional strategies. As one of her colleagues noted, “Jennifer routinely attends trainings to grow her practice and shares what she has learned with us so we can use the same strategies.” Her commitment to personal and professional growth is reflected in her dedication to supporting her colleagues, and she continually seeks to elevate the teaching practice across our campus.
Her efforts ensure that all students are given the tools to thrive regardless of their challenges. One of her colleagues perfectly expressed this: “Jennifer is a leader in our school community, and her consistent effort to share her knowledge is greatly appreciated.”
Another colleague shared, “Jennifer takes the time to consult with teachers at various grade levels, ensuring that the support she and her team are providing students is exactly what they need.” Her collaborative approach and her ability to tailor support to meet students' needs are key reasons why she has been such a powerful force in our school’s success.
Mrs. Moehrke's dedication, leadership, and innovative approach to literacy intervention make her a true asset to our school. Her work has had a profound and lasting impact on both her colleagues and the students she serves, and I can think of no one more deserving of the Teacher of the Year award.
